A NEW film captures the magical adventure of Cycle Circus which pedalled its way across the hills of Donegal in 2021.

Featuring five of Ireland’s most talented circus performers, Cycle Circus was one of the highlights of the annual Earagail Arts Festival last summer.

Commissioned by Earagail Arts Festival, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival and Carlow Arts Festival, and supported by Bank of Ireland Begin Together Arts Fund, in partnership with Business to Arts, the criss-crossing journey across Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way was captured on film and is now available to watch.

With footage by Donegal film-maker Charlie Doherty and Ken Fanning of Tumble Circus, the show’s creators, who both also did edits for the film, additional aerial footage by Declan Devlin, and music by Wolfhead and Pigface, the film beautifully captures the devilment the world-famous circus got up to.

Ken said during the summer of 2021 they did a total of 87 shows, visiting schools, care homes, performing outside pubs, and even on beaches. “It was all human, high energy and loads of craic, celebrating circus, the human body and the bicycle!”

We hope you enjoy the film and be sure to join us this summer at Earagail Arts Festival, 9th – 24th July 2022, when Tumble Circus makes a very welcome return to Donegal!
