EAF2024-Tatau

ATU Donegal will this month host an exhibition first curated as part of the 2023 Earagail Arts Festival Programme.

The ATU Access & Widening Participation Service, in conjunction with Earagail Arts Festival, will display the Tatau – Tattoo Exhibition in An Dánlann at ATU Letterkenny on Wednesday, 20 March at 4.15pm.

‘Tatau – Tattoo: Self-Expression & Identity: Celebrating the Cultural Significance of Tattoos’ was curated by ATU Student and 2023 EAF New Curator, Clodagh McIvor.

To celebrate the diversity of our community and highlight the importance of self-expression through body art, Clodagh sought out people with tattoos from different cultural backgrounds to participate in the photo exhibition which first went on display at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny in July 2023.

The exhibition, featuring photographs taken by Jacqui Devenney Reid, showcases a selected number of tattoos that have significant meaning to the individuals’ ethnicity and cultural backgrounds.
