Goitse takes centre stage for TG4’s Féile Ealaíne an Earagail

Féile Ealaíne an Earagail continued on TG4 last Sunday 22nd January with the popular and multi-award-winning quintet, Goitse, headlining. This weekend it is time for more homegrown talent, with Diane Cannon and more!

Fronted by lead singer and fiddle player, Áine McGeeney, Goitse was forged in the white-hot creative crucible of Limerick’s Irish World Academy. In this, the third programme of the new seven-part series, we see the group performing at An Grianán Theatre during Earagail Arts Festival 2022.

Named Live Ireland’s Traditional Group of the Year, Chicago Irish American News’ Group of the Year, as well as winning the prestigious Freiburger International Leiter award in Germany, Goitse have become a leader of the new generation of traditional Irish ensembles.

In Teach an Dúin, we meet the unique pianist and composer Ryan Molloy along with fiddle master Fergal Scahill of We Banjo 3 fame. Singer Brian Danny Minnie Ó Dohmnaill from Anagaire meets thepresenters in Teach na nAmhrán, Falcarragh while this week’s young musician is fiddler Sinéad McKenna from Co Tyrone.

Féile Ealaíne an Earagail combines highlights of seven concerts recorded in front of lives audiences at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny as part of Earagail Arts Festival in the summer of 2022, with specially-curated intimate performances recorded in various locations around.

Produced by Aniar TV, the programme is presented by renowned young Gaoth Dobhair singer and musician Cathal Ó Curráin, along with the well-known singer Sibéal Ní Chasaide from Ráth Chairn in County Meath, best known for her incredible rendition of Mise Éire in the 1916 Centenary celebrations.
