The TG4 series Ceol ón Earagail makes a welcome return to our screens this Sunday 16th June at 9.30pm with a celebration of legendary Donegal fiddle players, Jimmy and Vincent Campbell.

The traditional music series, which started airing on TG4 in February, combines highlights of concerts recorded in front of live audiences at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny, during Earagail Arts Festival, with specially-curated intimate performances recorded in various locations around Donegal in the summer of 2023.

This is the second year in a row that well-known production company ANIAR has covered the festival and includes a stellar line-up of musical talent, including Bríghde Chaimbeul with Aidan O’Rourke and Saileog Ní Cheannabháin, Lisa O’Neill, Flook, Fidil and many more.

Renowned young Irish traditional artists, Sibéal Ní Chasaide and Cathal Ó Curráin are also back on presenting duties for the seven-part series.

Hosting from Earagail Arts Festival, and other musical venues around the county, Sibéal and Cathal bring us the best of singers and musicians from across the island of Ireland and further afield.

The Campbells – A Celebration

The latest episode is a special programme in tribute to legendary Donegal fiddle players, Jimmy and Vincent Campbell, and features a special concert performed at An Grianán in memory of them by many of their friends and Jimmy’s son, Peter Campbell.

Jimmy and Vincent made a lasting impression on musicians from all over the country, young and old. A huge loss to the county’s music and craic is felt since Jimmy passed away in 2022, and his brother Vincent before him in 2018.

The programme features musicians from all over the county, including Jimmy’s son, Peter, sharing their stories and memories as well as playing music in their honour.

On stage for this special musical gathering at An Grianán are Dermot McLaughlin, Tara Connaghan, Denise Boyle, Martin McGinley, Ronan Galvin, Aidan O’Donnell, Fiona Gavin, Anne Connaghan and Connie McKelvey, Cathal Ó Curráin and of course, Jimmy’s son, Peter Campbell.

During the programme we also meet Aidan O’Donnell and the Campbell’s good friend and master fiddle-player, Danny Meehan in Tí Dinny, where we will also hear from Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh.

Don’t miss Ceol ón Earagail on TG4, Sunday 16th June at 9.30pm, and catch-up on the series to-date worldwide on the TG4 Player at www.tg4.ie
