Huartan, Trá Pháidín, Róis

A concert showcasing some of the finest talents on the contemporary and Irish language music scene from across the island of Ireland, blending ancient, traditional and modern, featuring Huartan from Belfast, Trá Pháidín from Galway and County Fermanagh’s Róis.

Winners of inaugural Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí Award of Best Emerging Artist (Gradaim Nós) Huartan are a Tradtronica band, established in 2023, and consist of three Irish-Trad musicians, Catriona Ní Ghribín, Múlú and the bands producer, Stíofán Loughran. Their shared vision is to reconnect modern audiences with the ancient songs and native language of our ancestors with a brand new audio-visual experience.

They’re said to have a gang and not have a gang …
They’re said to be a céilí band who don’t want to be a céilí band …
They’re said to be the richness and the shame of the Gael …
It’s said to be kind of like traditional music, jazz, kosmische and improvisations gone mad …
Their name is said to be Trá Pháidín or Báidín Fheilimí.

Róis (Rose Connolly) is a composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist, from County Fermanagh. Her body of work includes ensemble, large-scale and small-scale works, solo pieces, electronic solo/ensemble pieces and short film/multimedia works also. Her unique sound is an idiosyncratic combination of modernist and contemporary music with inflections of Irish traditional music, folk and Jazz. Rose maintains a busy performance schedule in Ireland, performing with an array of professional musicians in both Jazz, traditional and classical contexts.
