Little John Nee’s The Tilt of the Sky Tour has been captured beautifully in a new short film by Donegal film-maker, Charlie Joe Doherty.

Following the introduction of restrictions as a result the Coronavirus pandemic, Earagail Arts Festival and An Grianán Theatre commissioned the renowned Donegal artist for a pop-up theatre tour which would see him perform in seven towns and villages around the county.

The Tilt of The Sky Tour would see Little John Nee visit a total of seven towns and villages from Malin to Gortahork, culminating with a sold out show on the lawns at Rathmullan House.

The festival’s closing, physical event marked a real high for the artist, patrons and festival staff in what was a summer starved of social interaction and a full festival experience.

Film-maker Charlie Joe Doherty, who worked with the festival on a number of projects for the line-up of Srutháin (Small Streams) followed Little John Nee throughout this tour, with further aerial footage from Rathmullan House coming from Declan Devlin.

The final result is a magical short film that not only captures the tour beautiful, but accentuated by Little John Nee’s beautiful storytelling, songwriting and performance, is an incredible reflection on what a truly unusual time it was for us all.

We hope you enjoy the film and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Rathmullan House and the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny for their assistance in the production of this film.

Earagail Arts Festival is proudly supported by Donegal County Council, Arts Council Ireland and Wild Atlantic Way.
