Earagail Arts Festival in association with the Inishowen Traditional Music Project presents

The Tonns

Inishowen Lighthouse is a strategically positioned lighthouse marking the entrance to Lough Foyle and the sea channel to Derry with commanding views of the North Coast, Rathlin Island and the Western Isles of Scotland.

Steeped in history and mythology the lighthouse overlooks The Tonns, the sandbanks at the entrance to Lough Foyle which are the mythical home of Manannán Mac Lir. Manannán is the Celtic sea god and King of the Otherworld.

As a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann, he is associated with music and art and is the mythical creator of the harp.

As part of this new collaborative commission by Earagail Arts Festival and the Inishowen Traditional Music Project, musicians from the Inishowen area will work with a contemporary composer/producer and visual artists/technologist, to compose and produce an audio visual performance at the lighthouse with traditional Irish and electronic music, immersive audio and projection.
