The Human Library®
The Human Library® is, in the true sense of the word, a library of people. A place to ‘unjudge someone’. The organisation host events all over the world where readers can borrow human beings serving as open books and have conversations they would not normally have access to. Every human book from The Human Library® bookshelf represents a group in our society that is often subjected to prejudice, stigmatization or discrimination because of their identity, sexual orientation, diagnosis, belief, disability, social status, ethnic origin etc.
The Human Library® creates a safe space for dialogue where topics are discussed openly between human books and their readers, a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered. All of the human books are volunteers with personal experience with their topic. The Human Library® is a not for profit learning platform that has hosted personal conversations designed to challenge stigma and stereotypes since 2000.
Readers can book a free reading of a number of human books. Books and reading slots are now available for booking. Please note that capacity is very limited, so book your slot soon to avoid disappointment (Age: 18+ only):
