An Grianán Productions presents
Jimmy's Winnin' Matches
The GAA has often been described as the heart and soul of rural Ireland. In Kieran Kelly’s play we discover just what that means through the eyes of Danielle “Dodo” O’Donnell.
Donegal take to the field for the 2012 All Ireland final, and as the ball arcs high towards the waiting Michael Murphy, she recalls the highs and lows, and the ups and downs she’s experienced over the twenty years since Donegal last won the All Ireland.
There’s tears and laughter, heartbreak and love, and wins and losses; all brilliantly portrayed by Louise Conaghan, as she introduces to a whole host of colourful characters along the way.
Themes of emigration, unemployment, isolation, triumph and despair are touched on in this warm-hearted comedy drama, about a woman discovering what is truly important in life, and her place in it.
“You want to know the secret about football? You have to get back up again, every time you’re hit …”
