Earagail Arts Festival & David Lyttle present

Jazzlife Alliance

This summer Earagail Arts Festival and David Lyttle searched for the island’s most exceptionally talented young drummer.

The award will see the chosen drummer study with internationally acclaimed Irish jazz drummer David Lyttle, originally from Co. Armagh.

Ireland’s most celebrated jazz musician of today and its only MOBO Award-nominated artist, he has kept a consistently international tour schedule for ten years, touring Russia, Morocco, Finland, Southeast Asia and the Middle East in the last year alone.

He has collaborated with visionaries from the jazz and hip hop worlds and his latest album Faces was described by Rolling Stone as one of the best listening experiences you’re likely to have all year.

As artistic director of not-for-profit arts organisation Jazzlife Alliance, he has mentored some of the island’s most talented instrumentalists, with several going on to tour with him internationally.

The award will also include performances with rising star Irish jazz musicians Micheal and Conor Murray, who received Jazzlife Alliance awards in 2018 and have gone on to perform with David Lyttle internationally, including in South America, Europe and Morocco later this year.

Earagail Arts Festival will premiere an introductory video on the winner during this year’s Srutháin events.
