IRISH AERIAL DANCE FEST PRESENTS
Homegrown Night
Enjoy a series of performances from Irish circus artists including Gill Byrne with Working Load Limit, Polina Shapkina with Hungry Ghosts, Keeva O’Neill with Is Mise and more.
‘Hungry Ghosts’ – Polina Shapkina
In the realm of the wretched hungry ghosts, you eat but cannot get full, consume but are never satisfied. Hungry Ghosts explores the universal human experience of inner voids and the compulsion to fill them. Is there a path we can take to break the cycle ? Or are we bound to live and die in the bondage of insatiable longing.
‘Is Mise’ – Keeva O’Neill
‘Is Mise’ is an exploration of Irish heritage using aerial silks and contemporary dance. Keeva explores three themes on how stories are passed down from generation to generation. The sixteen-minute piece is split into four sections: Uisce (Water), Scealta (Stories), Freamhacha (Roots) and In Eineacht (Together).
‘Working Load Limit’ – Gill Byrne
“Working Load Limit” is a contemporary collaborative performance exploring the complex relationship between technology, the human psyche, and our innate desire for connection in an increasingly digitalized world. The piece delves into the emotional and psychological impact of our hyper-connected lives, prompting audiences to reflect on the weight of digital burdens.
Rope Duet – Jake Fairbrother and Charlotte Bruce
Following childhood as it shifts through life. This contemporary aerial dance duet explores the journey of sibling dynamics as they navigate the obstacles encountered as they mature.
‘Gan Chuimse [limitless]’ – Aisling Ní Cheallaigh
An exploration of limitation.
