Inishowen Gospel Choir
In April 2020 members and former members of the Inishowen Gospel Choir, in their homes from Malin Head to Switzerland, from Iceland to Poland, participated in a lockdown project.
For the recording of Stevie Wonder’s Love’s in Need of Love Today, they were joined by past collaborators Mirenda Rosenberg, Amanda St John and Liam Ó Maonlaí, who sang solos along within the choir’s Victoria Geelan.
The song, from the 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life, tuned into the atmosphere of the Covid-19 lockdown and became even more relevant during the Black Lives Matter protests that followed in May and June.
The project was originally conceived as a fundraiser for domestic violence service Lifeline Inishowen. The video of the song, which was arranged and produced by musical directors Anna Nolan and Neil Burns, takes the place of a planned performance at this year’s festival to mark the choir’s 15th anniversary.
