Kinnegar Brewing presents

Follow The Hops – A Day at Kinnegar with La Pompe, String Ninjas, Tanya McCole

La Pompe is a five-piece band inspired by the music of the great Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. The band is made up of Tom Byrne on harmonica and accordion, Sean McCarron on saxophone, Peter Doherty on contrabass, Damien Doherty on rhythm guitar and Donough Cleary on lead and rhythm guitar. La Pompe’s repertoire includes tunes from the 30s and 40s, Latin, waltzes and ballads, all in the genre of jazz Manouche.

Belfast-based instrumental duo String Ninjas is made up of fingerstyle guitarist Gavin Ferris and electric violinist Mick Conlon. There may only be two in the band, but their sound is as big as their personalities. Gavin takes care of the rhythm, bass & harmony thanks to his virtuosic and percussive guitar style, while Mick handles the bulk of the melody lines thanks to his classical training and desire to sound like Hendrix on violin!

Tanya McCole grew up in the village of Ardara, County Donegal. Having moved to London in 1994 she returned to Ireland and settled in Galway City. Returning to Donegal in 2005, 2009 saw the release of her first album, Love, Hate & The Blues.

Tanya went back to the studio in 2018 with a fresh batch of songs, recorded as Because Of You. In stark contrast to Love, Hate & The Blues, this new album was stripped back to reveal her uniquely distinctive voice and songwriting ability.

That same year she fulfilled a lifelong dream of touring with Grammy award- winner, the late John Prine.
