ARTLINK PRESENTS
Coast: Where Land Meets Sea
Coast is a group exhibition which explores the space where the land meets the sea. To coincide with And So I Watch You From Afar, by Aindreas Scholz, artists were invited to interpret this theme in their unique styles, through any medium.
The line between land and sea is never fixed. Coastal regions are ever-changing, fragile yet resilient, shaped by the constant interplay between water and land. In Ireland, the coast defines our geography and our consciousness, stretching over 3,171 kilometers and connecting us to the vastness of the ocean. From the wild Atlantic shores to the more sheltered eastern inlets, our relationship with the sea is one of survival, industry, recreation, and reflection.
We stand on the shore, staring out at the horizon, beside the sea that has shaped our history. The coast is a space of work—fishing, shipbuilding, navigating the waters—and a place of leisure, where we walk with friends, swim in familiar coves, or simply watch the waves. It is a landscape of shifting moods, from calm to wild, from erosion to renewal. Coast invites artists to explore these tensions, capturing the beauty, fragility, and power of our ever-changing shorelines.
