INISHOWEN TRADITIONAL MUSIC PROJECT PRESENTS
Between Two Worlds: Honoria Galwey | A Portrait
Documentary Film and Live Performance
Inishowen Traditional Music Project presents an exploration of the life and music of Honoria Galwey. Honoria was an important collector of traditional music and song in Inishowen, and collected extensively around Moville and the surrounding areas in the 1800s.
This event is both a film and live music performance, and will help to illuminate the life and work of Honoria Galwey.
Research for the project has been a collaboration between noted historian Dr. Angela Byrne and composer and arranger Martin Tourish.
The show will be staged in Buncrana Cinema and will contain a new arrangement from Honoria’s collection by Martin Tourish. Music and songs will be performed by an ensemble of Inishowen musicians.
This is an exciting new insight into the life of this important collector, and will offer a fascinating exploration of the music and social structures of the era.
This project has been supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Donegal County Council.
