Na Mic Ua gCorra presents

Balor (A Sharing) & The Village (A Sharing)

Ériu and its Donegal-based youth company Na Mic Ua gCorra will be in residence at Earagail Arts Festival for a week-long workshop of mentoring and choreography which will take place in Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair from 18th – 22nd July culminating in a performance of work-in-progress of Balor on  Friday 22nd July.

Excerpts of Ériu’s newest work, The Village, will also be presented, the full production of which will have its Donegal première at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny on Saturday 23rd July.

Established in 2010 by Breandán de Gallaí, Ériu Dance Company promotes Irish dance as a living, ever-evolving tradition.

Exploring the traditional aesthetic, and exploiting the untapped poetic and dramatic possibilities of the genre, the company creates new work that educates, surprises and inspires.

In collaboration with a range of artistic disciplines, and drawing inspiration from complex social issues, Ériu challenges preconceptions of what Irish dance is, and can address. Ériu continually celebrates – and pushes the boundaries of – the Irish dance tradition, with a view to challenging and developing audiences for the dance form, nationally and internationally.

Na Mic Ua gCorra aims to give young, aspiring artists (aged 16-25) the opportunity to work semi-professionally through regular training, mentoring, and performance opportunities to promote all traditional art-forms, music, song and dance, drama and spoken word, with a strong focus on An Ghaeilge – and to present them in modern and relevant ways.
